Dr. Medina holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Fordham University, in Language, Literacy, & Learning. She was awarded the Doctoral Recognition Award by the Advisory Committee for Multicultural Affairs on April 30, 2001. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, with a minor in Theology from Hunter College, as well as a Master’s of Science in Education, and another graduate degree in TESOL from Long Island University. She has earned her Master of Science in School Administration & Supervision from Touro College.

Dr. Medina had a long and successful career with the New York City Department of Education for over three decades. In various settings she has educated both children and adults learners, teaching Social Studies, and other subjects  to intermediate school students and ESL to adult learners. She has also mentored teachers, served as an assistant school programmer, supervised Saturday programs, as well as collaborated in the testing and placement of adult English Language Learners in Queens adult learning centers.

Since joining as an adjunct professor at Touro College in 2002, Dr. Medina has been committed to maintaining an affable and positive learning environment in which students are supported to share ideas, ask questions, and have discussions.   Dr. Medina regards all members of the learning community, both on campus and remote, as equal participants in ensuring educational and emotional best practices for all school children.
