Her specialty fields are multicultural-american, African-American, post-colonial, feminist, and 20th-century literatures (with emphasis on women writers). In connection with this, she presented a paper at Columbia University entitled “The Representation of Anger and Rage in the Narratives of Multicultural Writers: Michelle Cliff and Jamaica Kincaid.” Her teaching philosophy emphasizes allowing students “a voice in the classroom” and preparing them “to live more meaningful lives.”
