Gena Bardwell, MFA
Chair, Speech and Communication; Director, General Education , Assistant Professor
Professor Bardwell has an M.F.A. from Rutgers University and a B.F.A. from Stephens College. At NYSCAS, she has taught Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Human Communications, and Event Management. She has also taught Strategic Management & Communication at Touro Graduate School of Business.
Her committee appointments include: Co-Chair General Education Subcommittees: Faculty Advisory Committee for the Center on Learning and Teaching (CELT), Co-Chair of STRIVE (Student Success), Outcomes Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Faculty Senate, Women’s Leadership Council, Curriculum Committee, Graduation Committee and Council for Faculty Development and Evaluation (FEDP).
In 2018, she participated in the Provost’s inaugural Class of 2018 of Touro College Academy of Leadership and Management (TCALM).
Professor Bardwell’s work spans both the private and non-profit sectors. She served as Senior Operations Manager at Scholastic Inc. in the Department of Corporate Communications and worked as Director of Special Events for the New York Historical Society.
Professor Bardwell’s publications include the article “Updating PowerPoint for the New Business Classroom,” published in the July 2019 issue of Informing Science Institute. She has also written for Touro College’s Teaching and Learning Exchange.
