Judah Z. Weinberger is a physician-scientist and educator whose career bridges clinical innovation, academic leadership, and translational research. He currently holds senior leadership roles as Vice President for Collaborative Medical Education and Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Education within the Touro College and University System. He is also Dean of the New York School for Career and Applied Studies.

Dr. Weinberger’s academic foundation spans mathematics, physics, immunology, and medicine, with degrees from Columbia and Harvard (BA, MA, PhD, MD) and an MBA from Touro University. His early clinical training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and research fellowships at Harvard and MIT laid the groundwork for a pioneering career in cardiovascular science and intervention.

At Columbia University, where he served for nearly three decades, Dr. Weinberger rose through the academic ranks to Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Device Development. His contributions were central to the evolution of interventional cardiology, with leadership in major clinical trials and innovations in intravascular radiation therapy to prevent restenosis. His collaborations with industry and regulatory bodies, including his long-standing role as a voting panelist for the FDA Medical Devices Advisory Committee, reflect his integrative approach to medical innovation and public impact.

A prolific scholar, Dr. Weinberger has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and holds more than a dozen patents, many involving radiation-based cardiovascular technologies. A number of his patents were developed, trialed, and ultimately commercially released in close collaboration with industry experts. His editorial work spans multiple major journals, and he has contributed to national discourse on device development and regulatory pathways.

In parallel with his clinical and scientific work, Dr. Weinberger has become a champion for interdisciplinary education and faculty development. He has chaired key committees at Touro and Columbia, led national peer-review panels, and mentored countless trainees in medicine, biology, and health sciences. While at Touro, he has been a vocal advocate and leader in developing programs in medical imaging, such as radiography and sonography, and nursing, with a particular interest in offering opportunities to traditionally underserved populations to become integral members of the healthcare professions.

With a career marked by translational insight, regulatory acumen, and educational vision, Dr. Weinberger continues to shape the intersection of science, medicine, and education, fostering innovation while nurturing the next generation of clinicians and researchers.
