“My professor was always there for me when I asked her for additional help. She was so dope, she even asked me if I needed help with a class she didn't teach. Just shoot it her way, and if she could figure it out, she'd help me.”

FAQs on NYSCAS Courses and Programs
Can I complete my degree online?
Many of our classes, and majors, can be taken online. Some classes are in person only, as are our professional programs (nursing, sonography, radiography).
Do you offer evening and weekend classes?
We try our best to offer flexible options that meet your needs. We have many classes in the evenings, Sundays, and online. Take a look at the course schedule to get a sense of what is available when and in what format.
How many students are in a class?
Most of our classes are small. The low student-to-faculty ratio helps us offer more one-on-one support and guidance. In most of our courses you won’t have more than 20 in your class. Nursing cohorts are about 30 each, and radiography cohorts are about 60 students each cohort.
In what format are your classes offered?
Many of our classes are offered online. Some are traditional online asynchronous classes where you log on when it works for you, and some are online via Zoom, offered synchronously at a specific day and time with faculty / student interaction in real-time. Some classes, including those for our professional programs in nursing, sonography, and radiography, are in person only.
Can I change my major?
With most of our majors you can change after getting started. Depending on how many courses you’ve taken and the requirements in your new major, it’s possible you’ll need to take more credits than anticipated to meet major requirements.
We have three professional degree programs – nursing, radiography, sonography. Those are very competitive and cohort based. If you would like to switch into any of those programs, you will need to re-apply and compete for one of those spots. If accepted, you’ll be starting again along with everyone else in your cohort.
If you’re not sure about what you’d like to pursue, or are thinking about switching majors, meet with an advisor as early as possible to go over your options and the best way to schedule your classes.
