NYSCAS Celebrates Brooklyn Graduates
Class of 2017 Graduates of the Brooklyn Campuses
On Thursday, June 8, 2017, the Touro College New York School of Career and Applied Studies held its graduation ceremony at the Walt Whitman Theater, Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts. The weather that evening was splendid and so was the ceremony.
Joining members of the administration and faculty on stage were student honorees, some receiving awards for achievements within their academic departments and others for overcoming adversity. Both Vice President and Executive Administrative Dean, Eva Spinelli-Sexter and Vice President and Dean of Faculties, Dr. Stanley Boylan, expressed their feelings of pride for the wonderful accomplishments of the graduates. Speaking on behalf of the graduates was Viktoria Melnyk, who delivered the salutatory address and Avivah Rambod, who delivered the valedictory address. NYSCAS was very honored to have as its commencement speaker, the Honorable Letitia James, Public Advocate for the City of New York, who delivered a very inspirational and motivating speech.
As is the tradition at a NYSCAS graduation ceremony, a musical interlude was performed and, quite fittingly, the graduates were asked to turn to face the audience of family and friends while the song, Stand by Me, was performed, acknowledging that their work in the classroom was made possible by the support they received from their loved ones.
