Elizabeth Salgado
Future Occupational Therapist
September 16, 2017
Elizabeth Salgado, of the Bronx, works as a para-professional for autistic children for the NYC Board of Education. She works in 352X, a special needs school, inside PS 75 in Hunts Point. Several teachers were graduates of NYSCAS and recommended that she get a college degree and become a teacher. Salgado had a different idea. “I want to become an occupational therapist,” said Salgado. “I’ve seen how much occupational therapists can do for children with autism. They teach them basic skills.”
Her goal for her college experience? “I want to learn new technology to help my students understand me better,” she said.
