Celeny Vargas, of the Bronx, is a teacher’s aide at Grammercy School and Roosevelt Children’s Center in midtown. During one of the staff meetings, a teacher brought up how she had graduated from NYSCAS. “I’ve been thinking about going to college for a while,” Vargas reflected. “Math is my weak spot, but I thought I’d give it one more try.”
Vargas said she was surprised to have ended up in the education field. “I always thought I’d be a vet, but kids just seem to like me,” she said. She is considering majoring in education or in art. Her hopes for her college experience: “I want to be exposed to new things.”
Vargas is a huge fan of anime, Japanese animation. Her favorite show? Naruto. She also enjoys writing.
